31. 5. 2023 - 53 km / 583 hm - Molde - Kristiansund
Fortunately, the weather - contrary to the forecast - is better than expected at the beginning of the day. The route leads us along the E39 towards Kristiansund. On a dry road with few climbs, we make rapid progress. Unfortunately, on longer sections the cycle track is not separated from the car traffic. This requires the highest concentration, as there are also quite a few trucks on this road.
We easily drive around the Høgsettunnel on the lower side road and are amazed to see the elegantly curved bridge over the Gjemnessund. While crossing this 1400 m long bridge, Petrus opens his floodgates. A few degrees less and snow would have fallen! Since in the following tunnel anyway a driving prohibition for bicycles exists and the bus must be used, we decide to terminate this stage also directly in the bus to Kristiansand.
Kristiansund (approx. 24000 inhabitants) is a port city and island community on several islands connected by bridges in the north of the Norwegian province of Møre og Romsdal on the Atlantic coast.
