27. 6. 2023 - Sommarøy Rest Day

Summer has now definitely arrived in the far north. We enjoy the beautiful weather and the summer temperatures to the fullest.

With a hike to the Nordkollen (216 m) we keep ourselves fit. The panoramic view is breathtaking, especially towards the interior with its many mountain ranges. On the hill opposite, 67 wind turbines are installed with a total output of about 288 MW, which is about one third of the output of a nuclear power plant. The plant produces electricity for 50'000 households. However, since there is a lull today, most of the wind turbines are at a standstill.

Descending from the mountain, we discover a beautiful sandy beach - the sea water shines emerald green and invites for a swim. So we grab the chance and make sure that we didn't pack our swimming trunks for nothing. The water is freezing cold (10°C), but the refreshment is even greater.
